Friend, you were created to carry His glory!

John 1:14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Habakkuk 2:14  For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea.

There is a thread woven through every page of Scripture, yet many believers have never been taught to see it. The Bible is certainly the story of sin and redemption, but beneath that glorious truth runs an even greater Kingdom narrative -- the story of kavod, the manifest glory and abiding presence of the Holy One of Israel, and His unwavering desire to dwell with His people. Every covenant, every altar, every tabernacle, every temple, and every coming of the Lord reveals the same divine purpose: God restoring His dwelling place until the whole earth is filled with His glory.

It began in Eden. God did not simply place Adam in a beautiful garden; He placed him within a sanctuary where heaven and earth met. Humanity lived in unhindered fellowship with its Creator, reflecting His wisdom, righteousness, and rule throughout creation. But when sin entered the world, humanity was driven from the presence of God, and the cherubim stood guard at the entrance. The story of Scripture is the story of that lost glory (kavod) returning.

At Sinai, God redeemed Israel from Egypt and instructed Moses to build the Mishkan, the Tabernacle, so that He might dwell in the midst of His people. When it was completed, the cloud descended, and the kavod of the Lord filled the sanctuary so completely that even Moses could not enter. Centuries later, the same glory filled Solomon’s Temple until the priests were unable to stand and minister. Yet both the Tabernacle and the Temple pointed beyond themselves to something greater. They were never the destination -- they were prophetic shadows of God’s ultimate desire to dwell with humanity.

John unveils that fulfillment with breathtaking simplicity: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory” [John 1:14]. The Greek word for dwelt is eskenosen, which literally means “He tabernacled among us.” Yeshua (Jesus) became the living Temple, the visible dwelling place of God’s glory. In Him, the kavod walked dusty roads, embraced the broken, healed the sick, and revealed the Father. And when the veil of the Temple was torn from top to bottom, Heaven declared that the way into God’s presence was forever opened.

But the story does not end there. At Shavuot (Pentecost), the Spirit descended, not upon a building of stone but upon a people. The dwelling place of God expanded from one Temple to a living community of believers. What once rested behind curtains and walls now lives within those who belong to Yeshua. You have become part of the living sanctuary where heaven and earth meet.

Yet even this is only the beginning. The prophets looked beyond the present age and saw a day when “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” [Habakkuk 2:14]. They foresaw the reign of Yeshua, when His rule would extend over every nation and His glory would no longer be hidden in a garden, a tabernacle, a temple, or even individual believers, but would fill the entire earth. And beyond that stands the New Jerusalem, where there is no temple at all, “for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple” [Revelation 21:22]. The story that began in Eden ends with creation completely saturated by the presence of God.

The Kingdom has always been moving toward one destination: God dwelling with His people and His glory filling the earth. From Eden to the Tabernacle, from the Temple to Yeshua, from the Spirit-filled community to the New Jerusalem, every stage declares the same promise: the earth will become the dwelling place of the King.

Friend, you are living in the middle of that unfolding story. The glory that filled Eden, descended on Sinai, rested in the Temple, and walked the roads of Galilee now dwells within you through the Holy Spirit. You are not waiting for God’s presence to arrive -- you are called to carry it. Every act of faith, every word of truth, every expression of mercy, and every step of obedience becomes another place where heaven touches earth. So refuse to live as though you are empty when the King has made you His dwelling place. Walk boldly as a carrier of His glory, knowing that your life is part of God’s great purpose until the day the knowledge of the Lord fills the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

Friend, you are carrying the image of the heavenly man!

Luke 3:38  the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

1 Corinthians 15:45-49  Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. 47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven.  48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven.  49 Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

Luke ends the genealogy of Yeshua (Jesus) with an interesting declaration: “Adam, the son of God” [Luke 3:38]. He is inviting us to look beyond Bethlehem and even beyond Abraham to the very beginning of God’s purpose for humanity. Adam was created not simply as the first man, but as God’s image bearer, commissioned to reflect His character and extend His reign throughout the earth.

In Genesis, God declared that humanity was created in His image -- tzelem Elohim, the image of God. In the ancient Near East, an image was more than a likeness; it was the visible representation of an invisible king, placed within his realm to manifest his authority and extend his rule. Adam was therefore created to reflect God’s character and fill the earth with His wisdom, righteousness, and presence until all creation became a sanctuary of His glory. But when sin entered the world, humanity lost more than innocence—it lost its ability to faithfully reveal the King it was created to represent.

This is why Paul contrasts two humanities: “The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second Man is from heaven… Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the Man of heaven” [1 Corinthians 15:47–49]. The Kingdom is not merely about forgiven people waiting for heaven. It is about a new humanity learning to carry the image of the Heavenly Man into the present age.

Notice that Paul does not merely promise a future reality. Through the Spirit, the life of the Heavenly Man is already being formed within us. We are being conformed to His image so that His compassion becomes our compassion, His holiness becomes our pursuit, His authority shapes our decisions, and His love becomes visible in the ordinary moments of everyday life. The Kingdom advances whenever the character of the King is revealed through His people.

This is why creation is groaning. Paul says it eagerly waits for “the revealing of the sons of God” [Romans 8:19]. The Greek word is apokalypsis -- an unveiling, the pulling back of a curtain. Creation is leaning forward, longing for a people who no longer live merely in the likeness of Adam, the man of dust, but who increasingly reflect the image of the Heavenly Man. The world is waiting to see what restored humanity looks like.

Every act of forgiveness, every choice to walk in righteousness, every moment of sacrificial love, every step of faithful obedience becomes a revelation that another Kingdom is already breaking into this one. You are not simply carrying a message about the King -- you are called to carry His image.

Friend, stop measuring yourself by the dust from which Adam was formed and begin living from the image of the Heavenly Man to whom you now belong. The Spirit of God is shaping you to look like the King, and creation itself is waiting for that image to be unveiled through your life. Wherever you go, bring His peace into chaos, His truth into confusion, His mercy into brokenness, and His hope into despair. Every room you enter is another opportunity for heaven to touch earth through you. Walk with confidence, love with courage, and live with holy purpose, because you carry the image of the Heavenly Man -- and through that image, the Kingdom of God is being revealed to the world.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)

Friend, the kingdom and the firstborn inheritance!

1 Corinthians 15:47-49 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49  Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

Romans 8:29  For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Hebrews 12:23  and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

There is a word woven throughout Scripture that carries far more Kingdom significance than most believers realize: bekhor -- firstborn. When God declared to Pharaoh, "Israel is My son, My firstborn" [Exodus 4:22], He was doing far more than expressing affection. He was establishing covenant identity with royal implications. In the ancient world, the firstborn held the place of honor, received the double inheritance, and carried the responsibility of representing the father’s house. Firstborn status was not merely about birth order -- it was about inheritance, authority, and purpose.

Yeshua (Jesus) is the perfect fulfillment of that pattern. Paul calls Him “the firstborn among many brethren” [Romans 8:29], revealing that He is not simply the unique Son but the first of a new humanity. Through His resurrection, the Man from heaven becomes the head of a redeemed family, restoring what was lost in Adam and opening the Father’s inheritance to all who are joined to Him.

The writer of Hebrews takes this truth even further, describing believers as “the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven” [Hebrews 12:23]. The Greek word is prototokon -- firstborns, plural. This is astonishing. The Firstborn Son has not kept His inheritance to Himself but has brought an entire family into His own standing before the Father. Those who are in Yeshua do not receive second-class status or partial rights; they are welcomed into the privileges and responsibilities of the Firstborn.

This reflects the Hebrew understanding of pi shnayim -- the "double portion" reserved for the firstborn. More than receiving extra possessions, the firstborn became the steward of the family’s future, carrying the father’s authority and representing his household. In Yeshua, that inheritance reaches its fullest expression. The Father’s Kingdom is shared with those who belong to His Son, making them heirs together with Him and participants in His reign.

The same pattern appears in the priesthood. Before the tribe of Levi was set apart, the firstborn sons were consecrated to serve before the Lord [Numbers 3:12–13]. That original calling is restored in Yeshua. Peter declares that believers are “a royal priesthood” [1 Peter 2:9], and Revelation proclaims that He “has made us a kingdom and priests to His God and Father” [Revelation 1:6]. This is not merely a spiritual metaphor -- it is Kingdom identity. The firstborn inheritance includes both authority and priestly access, allowing us to represent God to the world and bring the world before God.

Friend, you are not a spiritual orphan reaching for a Father’s attention. You are one of the Firstborn -- enrolled in heaven, vested with an eternal inheritance, and set apart as a priest in the King’s own household. The double portion is yours in Yeshua, and the priestly mantle already rests upon your shoulders. You were not born again merely to survive this age, but to represent the King, intercede for the world, and carry the authority and presence of His Kingdom wherever you go. So lift your head and live from the certainty of who you are: an heir of the Father, a co-heir with the Son, and one of His Firstborn, called to reveal His Kingdom until the day He reigns over all.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)

Friend, understand that you are a new creation!

2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

When Paul summarizes what happens to the person who believes in Yeshua (Jesus), he reaches for a breathtaking phrase: “new creation.” He could have simply said “saved,” and that would have been true. But Paul chooses language that is far more expansive. He is not describing a better version of the old life, a repaired heart, or a revised story. He is announcing the arrival of an entirely new order of existence breaking into the present world.

The Greek phrase is "kaine ktisis" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Kaine does not merely mean new in the sense of recent; it means new in kind, something qualitatively different from what existed before. Ktisis refers to creation itself - the created order, the cosmos spoken into existence by God. Together, these words proclaim far more than personal transformation. They declare that the new creation has already begun, and everyone who is in Messiah is part of it.

This would have resonated deeply within the Hebraic worldview. The rabbis often spoke of ha-olam hazeh, “this present age,” and ha-olam ha-ba, “the age to come.” Between them stood the hope of resurrection, restoration, and the full unveiling of God’s Kingdom. But through the resurrection of Yeshua, Paul declares something astonishing: the age to come has already broken into the present. The believer is not merely waiting for the new creation -- he is already living from it while the old creation still groans around him.

This is the heart of the Kingdom message. Yeshua did not come merely to rescue people from a fallen world and carry them safely to heaven. Paul calls Him “the second man … from heaven” [1 Corinthians 15:47], the beginning of a new humanity and the firstfruits of the coming Kingdom breaking into the present age. Just as we once bore the image of the man of dust, Adam, we are now being conformed to the image of the Man of heaven. His resurrection was not simply His victory over death -- it was the first dawn of a new creation, the unveiling of a new order of life. And everyone united with Him by faith and sealed by the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) already belongs to that heavenly reality, living today as a citizen of the Kingdom that is coming in fullness.

Hopefully, when you understand this it will change how you live. You do not strive to become a new creation -- you live from the reality God has already declared. Paul says "the old things have passed away" -- completed, final, irreversible. The old order no longer defines you because you no longer bear merely the image of the man of dust. You have been united to the Man from heaven and are being conformed to His image. Your identity is no longer sourced from your failures, your history, your fears, or even your natural abilities -- it is sourced entirely from the resurrection life of the King. The Kingdom is not God improving the old humanity. It is God introducing a wholly new humanity in Messiah, and inviting you to live from that heavenly reality today.

Friend, do not allow yourself to be defined by the person you once were or by the struggles that still surround you. In Yeshua, you are kaine ktisis -- a new creation -- and the very life of the coming Kingdom is alive within you today. The same Spirit who raised Yeshua from the dead now dwells in you, not to polish the old life but to reveal the new one. So stop measuring yourself by the standards of a world that is passing away and begin walking in the reality that the Kingdom has already broken through. The old no longer has the final word over your identity, your future, or your purpose. Every step you take in faith is a declaration that the Kingdom is here, that resurrection life is real, and that the new creation is already unfolding through you until the day it fills the whole earth.

Shabbat Shalom -- enjoy resting in His presence this weekend -- we'll see you first thing on Monday!

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

Friend, you were made for His presence!

Genesis 2:15  The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work (avad - עָבַד) it and keep (shamar - שָׁמַר) it.

Numbers 3:6-7  “Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him.  7 They shall keep guard (shamar - שָׁמַר) over him and over the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, as they minister [avad - עָבַד) at the tabernacle.

Most of us read the opening chapters of Genesis and picture Adam as a gardener, tending plants and cultivating the soil. But understanding the Hebrew tells a much deeper story. When God placed Adam in the Garden, He was not simply assigning him a task -- He was consecrating him for priestly ministry. Moses uses two remarkable words to describe Adam’s calling: avad, “to serve or minister,” and shamar, “to guard or keep watch.” These are the very same words later used throughout the Torah for the Levites who ministered and guarded the Tabernacle. Adam’s first vocation was more than agricultural labor; it was also sacred service in the presence of God.

This is no coincidence of vocabulary. It is a signpost revealing God’s design from the beginning. Eden was the first sanctuary -- the place where heaven and earth met, where God walked with man, and where His presence was the defining reality of life. Adam was not merely expelled from a beautiful garden; he was exiled from a holy dwelling place. From that moment forward, the entire story of Scripture becomes the story of God bringing His people back into His presence.

The pattern unfolds across the pages of the Bible with breathtaking consistency. The Garden gives way to the Tabernacle, where God’s glory fills the tent in the wilderness. The Tabernacle gives way to the Temple, where His presence dwells between the cherubim. Then Yeshua (Jesus) comes, and John declares that the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. At Pentecost, the Spirit descends, not upon a building, but upon a community of believers, making them the living temple of God. Finally, Scripture reaches its glorious conclusion as the New Jerusalem descends and a voice proclaims, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with men.” The exile is over. What was lost in Eden is fully restored.

This reveals the heartbeat of the Kingdom. God has never desired a distant religion or a system of rituals performed at arm’s length. From Genesis to Revelation, His purpose has been unwavering: to dwell with the people He created. Every altar, every sacrifice, every priestly garment, every curtain, and every offering pointed toward one magnificent reality -- that through the Messiah, humanity would once again live in unhindered fellowship with its Creator.

This understanding should change how we live our daily lives. Prayer is no longer a religious obligation but the joyful privilege of entering the presence that Adam was created to enjoy. Gathering with the body of Messiah is not simply attending a service -- it is participating in the living sanctuary of God. Every ordinary moment becomes sacred as we avad and shamar, serving and guarding the holy dwelling place God has made of our lives through His Spirit.

Friend, you were never created to live on the outside, peering through the curtain and hoping to catch a glimpse of God. You were made for His presence. The blood of Yeshua did not merely forgive your sin -- it reopened the way into the sanctuary and restored the calling that began in Eden. Every day the King invites you to draw near, to walk with Him, to carry His presence into your home, your work, and your world. Stop living as though you are still in exile when Yeshua has brought you home. You are not simply a believer trying to survive until heaven -- you are a priest of the living God, a dwelling place of His Spirit, and a living testimony that His great purpose has always been fulfilled: God with man, and man with God forever.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

Friend, the wilderness is preparing you for the Kingdom!

Isaiah 43:18-19  “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

One of the greatest misunderstandings in the Kingdom is believing the wilderness is God's rejection -- when it is actually His classroom.

Israel had already been redeemed by the blood of the Passover lamb. They had already crossed the sea. Pharaoh's dominion had been shattered. Yet instead of entering the Promised Land immediately, God led them into the wilderness -- because leaving Egypt took one night, but removing Egypt from their hearts required a lifetime of learning to trust the King.

Every morning, manna fell from heaven. Every day, the cloud moved before them. Every night, the pillar of fire stood watch over the camp. Every hardship became an invitation to trust the King rather than manage the circumstances. The wilderness was never meant to be permanent -- it was preparation. God was not simply moving His people from one geography to another. He was exchanging the mindset of slaves for the character of sons.

The writer of Hebrews looks back on Israel’s journey and offers a sober warning: do not repeat their mistake. God’s rest is not inactivity or escape -- it is the settled confidence of a people who have learned to trust His provision, follow His leading, and live under the gracious rule of the King. [Hebrews 3:7-Hebrews 4:11]

The tragedy of the wilderness generation was not that they left Egypt too slowly -- it was that Egypt never completely left them. Their bodies had crossed the sea, but their hearts kept looking back. Every difficulty became an occasion to long for slavery rather than trust the God who was leading them toward inheritance. They had been brought out, but they had not yet been built up. They were freed people who had not yet learned to live free.

This is why the wilderness occupies such a central place in the Kingdom story. In the Exodus wanderings, the wilderness was where Israel learned dependence before receiving inheritance. It was where slaves became a covenant people -- where fear gave way to faith, and where God formed a nation capable of carrying His presence into the earth.

The same pattern holds for us. Yeshua (Jesus) does not simply deliver His people — He trains and disciples them, preparing them to rule with Him. The Kingdom is not only about leaving the old life behind; it is about learning the rhythms of the new one. Every season of waiting, every test of faith, every daily act of obedience is not wasted time — it is God forming a people prepared to steward what He has promised, citizens of His Kingdom being shaped into its future rulers. The wilderness wanderings are the King's school for those who will reign with Him, and every lesson teaches you to trust the King before He entrusts you with the Kingdom. The wilderness, then, is not evidence that God has abandoned you -- it is evidence that He is preparing you.

Friend, if this season feels like a wilderness, lift up your eyes. The same God who parted the sea is the God who is leading your steps, and He has never brought His people out simply to leave them in the desert. Every morning, He is teaching you to trust His provision. Every step is teaching you to follow His voice. Every delay is strengthening a faith that will be able to carry the weight of inheritance. So do not let Egypt shape your thinking while the Kingdom is shaping your heart. You were never redeemed merely to escape bondage -- you were redeemed to become a son, a daughter, a citizen of Heaven, and an heir of the Kingdom. The wilderness is not evidence that God has forgotten you; it is evidence that the King is preparing you for what He has already promised. Keep following the cloud. Keep gathering the manna. Keep walking by faith. Because on the other side of every lesson is an inheritance, and the God who is forming you today is preparing you to reign with Him tomorrow.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)

Friend, baptized into Moses, alive in Messiah!

1 Corinthians 10:1-2  I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud, and that they all passed through the sea. 2 They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

When Paul wanted to explain baptism, he did something surprising. Instead of pointing first to a river or a ritual, he pointed back to the Exodus.

Paul deliberately chooses the Greek word baptizo — to immerse, to overwhelm, to identify completely with another. Israel did not simply walk through the Red Sea; they emerged from it as an entirely different people. On one shore stood a nation of slaves. On the other stood the covenant people of God -- a kingdom of priests, set apart to carry His name before the nations.

The sea became a dividing line between two kingdoms, not merely two conditions.

Notice what remained behind. Egypt was behind them. Pharaoh's authority was behind them. The entire legal claim that one kingdom held over God's people was behind them. They did not merely escape slavery -- they were transferred out of one dominion and into another. This is covenantal language. This is kingdom language. God did not negotiate better terms with Pharaoh. He extracted His people completely, sealed the transfer in water, and led them under His own government, His own cloud, His own King.

This is why baptism is so much more than a symbol of forgiveness. It is a public declaration of transferred allegiance -- a proclamation that you now live under a different throne. Paul writes elsewhere, "We were buried therefore with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead... even so we also should walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4).

The old life is not simply improved—it is buried. What rises is a new creation, transferred from the dominion of darkness into the reign of the beloved Son.

The Exodus story reinforces this with unmistakable clarity. Israel was not truly free when Pharaoh reluctantly agreed to let them go. Freedom became reality when they walked through the waters and discovered there was no path back. The sea closed behind them. Pharaoh's army — every instrument of the old dominion's enforcement — was swallowed in the deep. Their future was now found only by following the cloud of God's presence, living under God's law, eating God's provision, and marching toward the promised land.

So it is with everyone who follows Yeshua (Jesus). The cross dismantles the legal claim of sin against us, but baptism publicly announces it. We have crossed from death into life, from darkness into light, from the authority of Pharaoh into the sovereign reign of the true King. This is not merely a change of moral direction -- it is a change of citizenship, of lordship, of the kingdom to which our lives belong and give account.

This is why the New Testament consistently speaks of believers as new creations, citizens of heaven, members of God's household, and a royal priesthood. The Exodus did not simply change Israel's location -- it changed their allegiance, their identity, and their King.

Friend, perhaps today you still hear the voices of Egypt calling you back -- the fears, failures, labels, and chains that once defined your life. But God no longer sees you standing on the old shore. You have passed through the waters. You belong to another Kingdom now. Your past no longer has authority over you, because your life is hidden in Yeshua. Stop looking behind to a land God has already delivered you from, and begin walking like someone who has crossed over. The sea is closed, the cloud is moving, and the King is leading you into a life that can never be lived by looking back. Walk forward -- you are no longer a slave. You are a citizen of the Kingdom of God.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)

Friend, a new exodus began at the cross!

Luke 9:28-32  About eight days after Jesus had said these things, He took with Him Peter, John, and James, and went up on a mountain to pray. 29  And as He was praying, the appearance of His face changed, and His clothes became radiantly white. 30  Suddenly, two men, Moses and Elijah, began talking with Jesus. 31  They appeared in glory and spoke about His departure (exodos), which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32  Meanwhile, Peter and his companions were overcome by sleep, but when they awoke, they saw Jesus’ glory and the two men standing with Him.

There is a remarkable detail hidden within the Transfiguration that is easy to overlook. As Yeshua (Jesus) stood on the mountain in glory, Moses and Elijah appeared and spoke with Him -- not about His miracles, His teaching, or even His coming resurrection. Luke tells us they spoke of His “departure” He was about to accomplish in Jerusalem [Luke 9:31].

But Luke does not use the ordinary Greek word for departure.

He uses exodos -- the same Greek word found in the Septuagint, the ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures, where it gives the book of Exodus its name: the story of Israel's great escape from Egypt. That's no accident. When Luke chose that word, every reader familiar with Scripture would have felt the echo immediately: this is another Exodus. Moses and Elijah, standing there on the mountain, are not reminiscing about the past -- they are announcing that what Moses began, Yeshua is about to complete. Not a deliverance from Pharaoh's chains, but from something far greater: breaking the dominion of sin, death, and the kingdom of darkness.

The cross is not merely the place where sins are forgiven. It marked the beginning of a new Exodus.

The Greek word exodos literally means “the way out,” “the road of departure,” or “the journey from one realm into another.” Luke intentionally frames the death of the Messiah as the opening of a new redemption story. The blood of the Lamb is once again applied, not to the doorposts of homes, but to the hearts of those who believe, and a people are called to leave behind the old kingdom and begin a journey toward inheritance.

The Hebrew story deepens the picture even further. Israel was not redeemed simply to escape Egypt. God repeatedly told Moses, “Let My people go, that they may serve Me” [Exodus 7:16]. Deliverance had a purpose. They were redeemed to become a covenant people, a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation [Exodus 19:6]. Leaving Egypt was only the beginning.

The same is true for us.

Too often, salvation is treated as the finish line when Scripture presents it as the starting point. We celebrate being rescued while forgetting that we have also been called into covenant, discipleship, transformation, and ultimately Kingdom inheritance. Yeshua did not simply save us from something -- He saved us for something.

Even the characters of the Transfiguration testify to this. Moses represents the Exodus, Elijah represents the prophets, and both stand beside the One who fulfills them all. The Law and the Prophets point toward a greater Deliverer who will lead not one nation, but all who believe into the restoration of God’s Kingdom.

Friend, perhaps today you have been thanking God for bringing you out of Egypt while forgetting that He is also leading you somewhere. The blood of the Lamb was never meant to leave you standing at the door -- it was meant to begin your Exodus. The God who delivered you is the God who is forming you, guiding you, and preparing an inheritance for you. So don't camp at the place of your redemption. Keep following the greater Moses. Leave behind every chain that still whispers your name, every fear that tells you to return to Egypt, and every lie that says the wilderness is your home. Your King has already made the way out, and every step you take in obedience is one step closer to the Kingdom He has prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)

Friend, living between the finished work and the finished Kingdom!

John 19:30  When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Revelation 21:6  And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.

2 Corinthians 1:20  For all the promises of God are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him, our “Amen” is spoken to the glory of God.

Two declarations frame the whole story of redemption.

At Calvary, Yeshua (Jesus) cried, Tetelestai -- from teleō, meaning to complete, to fulfill, to bring something to its intended goal. It speaks of a completed work with continuing results. The debt was paid. The sacrifice was accepted. The victory was secured.

In Revelation 21, from the throne comes a second word: Gegonan — from ginomai, meaning to become, to come into being, to come to pass. This is not merely a work completed, but a promise fully manifested. The New Jerusalem has descended. Death is abolished. The curse is removed. The Kingdom is fully unveiled.

Between these two words is where we live.

But we are not meant to live there passively. As believers, we are called to bring the reality of the coming Kingdom into this present age. We carry the witness of what will one day fill the earth. The future is not distant to us in the way it is distant to the world. In Yeshua, the powers of the age to come have already broken into this age. The Kingdom that will one day be fully revealed is already among us by the presence and power of the King.

Yeshua declared, “The kingdom of God is among you” [Luke 17:21]. Yet He also taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come” [Matthew 6:10]. That tension is not confusion. It is revelation. The Kingdom has arrived, it is arriving, and it will arrive in fullness. The cross established the reign of the King. Revelation reveals the full manifestation of His reign. We are not waiting for the Kingdom to begin; we are carrying its witness until it is fully unveiled.

This changes how we pray, how we live, and how we confront the brokenness around us. We do not look at sickness, bondage, despair, injustice, or darkness as though they belong to the final order of things. They do not. Death does not get the last word. The curse does not get the last word. Darkness does not get the last word. Revelation shows us the final reality: God dwelling with His people, tears wiped away, death destroyed, creation restored, and the Kingdom fully revealed.

And because that future is certain, we bring its reality into the present.

Every salvation is the future Kingdom breaking into the now. Every healing is a sign of the world to come. Every deliverance is a witness that the powers of darkness have already been judged. Every act of forgiveness, mercy, reconciliation, holiness, courage, and love is a preview of the day when the Father declares over all creation, “It is done.” We are not pretending the world is whole. We are revealing the One who is making all things new.

Many believers fall into one of two errors. Some treat Calvary as though there is nothing more to expect, nothing more to pray for, and nothing more to see unfold. Others live as though nothing decisive has happened yet, as though we are still waiting for God to answer the rebellion of the earth. But Scripture teaches neither. Tetelestai means the victory has been secured. Gegonan means the victory will be fully manifested. And between those two declarations, the people of God are called to embody the Kingdom before the nations.

Friend, the unfinished places around you do not cancel the finished work behind you -- they are invitations to carry the authority, mercy, power, and hope of the coming Kingdom into this present moment. You live between the cross and the throne, and that position is not uncertain; it is an assignment. You can grieve what is broken without surrendering to despair. You can pray without questioning the King's authority. You can confront darkness without fear, because the outcome has already been secured. You do not fight for victory -- you stand in the finished work. You do not deny the battle -- you declare the outcome. You do not retreat because the world is shaking -- you advance because the throne is occupied. The cry from the cross guarantees the declaration from the throne, and until that day, you are not a spectator of history; you are a carrier of the coming Kingdom into this present reality.

Shabbat Shalom -- have a great weekend in the Lord ... we'll see you first thing on Monday morning!

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

Friend, you are advancing a finished victory!

John 17:1-5 When Jesus had spoken these things, He lifted up His eyes to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You.  2 For You granted Him authority over all people, so that He may give eternal life to all those You have given Him.  3 Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.  4 I have glorified You on earth by accomplishing the work You gave Me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the world existed.

Over the past few devotionals, we have touched on different usages of the word Tetelestai — how it carried the idea of a debt paid in full, a legal matter settled, and an obligation completely satisfied. But there is another powerful dimension to this word. It was also used in a military sense. When a soldier had completed his assignment, fulfilled his orders, and carried out the mission entrusted to him, he could return with this report: Tetelestai — mission accomplished. Every objective fulfilled. Nothing left undone.

This gives us a powerful lens through which to see the life and death of Yeshua (Jesus). His coming was not random. His ministry was not improvised. His suffering was not an unfortunate accident. He came under divine assignment. He said clearly, “I have glorified You on earth by accomplishing the work You gave Me to do.”

From the wilderness to Galilee, from the synagogues to the streets, from the table with sinners to the garden of Gethsemane, Yeshua moved with the clarity of a Son on mission. He was not controlled by men's approval. He was not intimidated by the demons' opposition. He was not distracted by the pressure of the crowds. He knew why He had come.

That is why the cross must never be seen as the interruption of His mission. It was the completion of it. What looked to Rome like an execution looked to Heaven like fulfillment. What looked to the disciples like collapse was, in truth, the decisive strike against sin, death, and the powers of darkness. Yeshua was not overtaken by the cross; He walked into it with open eyes. He was not trapped by the schemes of men; He was fulfilling the counsel of God. Every prophecy, every shadow, every sacrifice, every promise spoken across a thousand years of covenant history -- all of it converged on that hill, on that moment, in that cry -- Tetelestai.

When Yeshua cried, “It is finished,” He was not surrendering to defeat. He was declaring that the mission had been accomplished. Nothing was partial. Nothing was incomplete. He did not almost finish the work. He did not secure a temporary victory. He did not leave redemption hanging in uncertainty. The Lamb had been offered. The blood had been shed. The enemy had been judged. The covenant had been sealed. The way had been opened. The Kingdom had broken through in power.

This is essential to our understanding of the Kingdom. The Body of Messiah is not trying to create a victory that does not yet exist. We are called to move in agreement with the victory of our Lord. Yeshua has completed the mission; His Body now carries the authority of what He already accomplished. We do not preach a Gospel that might work. We proclaim a Kingdom that has already triumphed through the death and resurrection of the King. We do not pray from uncertainty. We pray from the finished work. We do not resist darkness as though the outcome is still in question -- we enforce the judgment of the One who has already overcome.

The enemy works hard to convince believers that we are still fighting for victory. He wants the Body of Messiah exhausted, anxious, and unsure -- as though Calvary only gave us a chance to win. But the cross did not create the possibility of triumph. It secured the triumph of the King. The resurrection was Heaven's public declaration that the sacrifice was accepted, the assignment was complete, and the victory was final. The tomb is empty because the mission was finished.

This changes how we walk. You are not carrying fragile hope into uncertain ground -- you are advancing in the authority of a completed mission, representing a King who has already disarmed principalities and powers, made a public spectacle of them, and now reigns at the right hand of the Father. Every act of obedience, every prayer of faith, every proclamation of the Gospel, every refusal to surrender ground to darkness -- these are not attempts to earn a victory. They are the enforcement of one already won.

Friend, do not lower your eyes because the battle is fierce. Do not confuse fierce resistance with an uncertain outcome. The Captain of your salvation has filed His report in Heaven: mission complete. Now walk out your life in the authority of that finished victory. Tetelestai!

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)

Friend, paid in full!

Colossians 2:14  He wiped out the handwritten record of debts with the decrees against us, which was hostile to us. He took it away by nailing it to the cross.

When Yeshua (Jesus) cried from the cross, “It is finished,” He was declaring more than the end of His suffering. He was announcing that the debt of sin had been fully paid. The Greek word Tetelestai carried a financial meaning in the ancient world. When an account was settled and nothing remained to be paid, the receipt could be marked with this word: Tetelestai — paid in full. No remaining balance. No future installments. No lingering obligation. The account was closed because the debt had been satisfied.

This gives us a powerful window into the finished work of the cross. Sin created a debt humanity could never repay. No amount of good works, religious effort, personal sacrifice, or sincere regret could clear the account. The debt was too great, the stain too deep, the obligation too holy for fallen man to settle. But Yeshua did not come to make a partial payment. He did not come to reduce the balance. He did not come to place mankind on a spiritual installment plan. He came to clear the entire account with His own blood.

This is the beauty of redemption. In Hebrew thought, redemption is tied to the word ga’al — to buy back, to redeem, to reclaim what was lost. The redeemer did not merely feel compassion from a distance; he stepped in, paid the price, and restored what had been forfeited. Yeshua is our Redeemer. He entered into our condition, took upon Himself what we owed, and purchased us completely. We were not bought back cheaply. We were redeemed by the precious blood of the Lamb.

You are not on a payment plan with God. Grace is not a loan. Forgiveness is not a temporary extension. Salvation is not Heaven giving you more time to prove you can settle the account. The cross is not a reduced sentence or a lowered balance. It is a settled account. The full weight of the debt was placed upon Yeshua, and when He cried, Tetelestai, Heaven received the payment as complete.

This is where the enemy loves to torment the people of God. He whispers, “You still owe.” He points to your past, your failures, your weaknesses, your inconsistency, and tells you that surely there must still be something left to pay. He wants you striving under condemnation, serving from guilt, worshiping from fear, and approaching God as though your account is still in question. But the cross speaks louder than the accusation. The blood of Yeshua does not say, “Payment pending.” It declares, “Debt canceled.”

This does not make grace cheap; it reveals how costly grace truly is. The price was not overlooked. It was paid. The debt was not erased by pretending it never existed. It was nailed to the cross. Every charge, every claim, every record that stood against us was taken out of the way through the finished work of Yeshua. The handwriting against us has been canceled, not because we were able to pay, but because the Lamb paid what only He could pay.

This is a Kingdom reality. Citizens of the Kingdom do not live under the slavery of unpaid debt. We live under the freedom of redemption. We do not obey God in order to pay Him back. We obey because love has awakened worship. We do not serve to reduce our balance. We serve because the balance is gone. We do not give, pray, repent, or pursue holiness to earn forgiveness. We do these things because we have been redeemed, restored, and brought into the household of the King.

So stop living as though Heaven is still collecting from you what Yeshua has already paid. Stop measuring your standing with God by the emotions of the moment. Stop letting the enemy turn conviction into condemnation. The Holy Spirit may correct you, but He will never make you pay for what the Son has already purchased. Correction leads you back into fellowship. Condemnation tries to chain you to a debt that no longer exists.

Friend, lift your head today. Your account is not overdue. Your balance is not pending. Your redemption is not incomplete. The price has been paid. The account has been settled. The receipt has been stamped in the blood of Yeshua: Tetelestai.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)

Friend, heaven has already ruled!

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

When Yeshua (Jesus) cried from the cross, “It is finished,” He was not merely announcing the end of His suffering. He was declaring the completion of a divine legal transaction. The Greek word Tetelestai carried the weight of finality. In the ancient world, it could be used when an obligation had been fully completed, a debt had been paid, or a sentence had been carried out. In a legal setting, the idea was clear: justice has been satisfied, the matter is settled, and no further penalty remains.

This gives us a powerful lens through which to view the cross. At Calvary, Yeshua was not pleading with the Father to overlook sin. He was not negotiating forgiveness as though mercy required God to ignore justice. The cross reveals something far deeper and more holy. Sin was not excused. Sin was judged. The penalty was not dismissed. The penalty was carried. The debt was not forgotten. The debt was paid. The justice of God and the mercy of God met in the body of the Son, and when Yeshua cried, Tetelestai, Heaven declared that the case had been settled forever.

This reaches back into the Hebrew understanding of atonement. In the sacrificial system, sin was never treated lightly. Blood was required. The altar stood as a constant reminder that covenant fellowship with a holy God could not be maintained by sentiment, sincerity, or human effort. Sin had to be dealt with. Yet those sacrifices were only shadows. They pointed forward to the Lamb of God who would not merely cover sin for a season, but remove it through the offering of Himself. Yeshua did not come to place a temporary covering over our guilt. He came to fulfill the righteousness of God and satisfy the demands of justice completely.

This is why the cross is not weak mercy. It is holy mercy. It is not God pretending sin does not matter. It is God dealing with sin so completely that the accuser has no legal ground left to stand on. Satan may accuse, but he cannot overrule the verdict of Calvary. He may remind you of what you did, where you failed, or how far you fell, but he cannot reverse what Yeshua finished. The court of Heaven has already spoken over the redeemed: no condemnation, no outstanding debt, no remaining charge.

Your past is not pending judgment. In Yeshua, it has already received a verdict. Paid in full. Case closed. This does not make us careless with sin; it makes us grateful for grace. It does not produce arrogance; it produces worship. When we truly understand that the Son of God carried our judgment, we stop treating forgiveness as a fragile feeling and begin standing on it as a legal reality established by the blood of the Lamb.

There are believers who spend years reopening cases God has already closed. They return again and again to old failures, old shame, old accusations, and old regrets, as though their sorrow can add something to the sacrifice of Yeshua. But the cross does not need your condemnation to make it complete. Your guilt cannot improve His blood. Your shame cannot strengthen His sacrifice. When Yeshua said, Tetelestai, He was not asking you to finish what He started. He was inviting you to stand in what He completed.

This is a Kingdom truth. The Kingdom is not built on uncertain pardon, but on established righteousness. A people who are still unsure whether they are forgiven will always live beneath their calling. But a people who know the verdict of the cross can rise in boldness, humility, and holy authority. They no longer live as prisoners awaiting sentencing, but as sons and daughters released by royal decree.

Friend, so when the accuser brings charges, do not meet him in the courtroom of your emotions; bring him back to the hill called Calvary. Do not answer shame with explanations, excuses, tears, or self-condemnation. Answer it with the cross. When the enemy tries to drag you back before a case Heaven has already closed, remember that the Judge has already ruled, the Lamb has already stood in your place, and the blood of Yeshua is still speaking a better word than every memory, every failure, and every accusation. Justice has been satisfied. The penalty has been carried. The debt has been paid. The sentence has been fulfilled. You are not awaiting a verdict — you are standing in one. Heaven has already stamped your file with one eternal declaration: Tetelestai.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)

Friend, you are living between two declarations!

As we continue our study of the Kingdom of God, I want to pause and compare two remarkable declarations that stand like pillars at opposite ends of the redemption story. The first was spoken by Yeshua (Jesus) from the cross: “It is finished.” The second is declared from the throne in Revelation: “It is done.” At first glance, they may sound almost identical, but in the Greek they are not the same. They reveal two distinct moments in God’s unfolding plan. At Calvary, Yeshua cried out, Tetelestai. In the New Jerusalem, the Father declares, Gegonan. The first announces that redemption has been accomplished. The second announces that redemption has reached its final destination. The cross was not the end of the story; it was the guarantee of how the story would end.

The word Yeshua spoke, tetelestai, comes from teleo, meaning “to complete,” “to accomplish,” or “to bring something to its intended goal.” Even more powerful, it is written in the perfect tense, carrying the force of something completed in the past with results that continue. In other words, Yeshua was declaring, “It has been finished, and it remains finished.” This was not the cry of a defeated victim fading under Roman power. It was the royal proclamation of the King who had completed the mission entrusted to Him by the Father. The debt of sin had been paid. The sacrifice had been accepted. The veil was about to be torn. The way into the presence of God had been opened. The victory had been secured.

Yet when we come to Revelation 21, we hear another declaration. The Father says, “It is done.” The Greek word is gegonan, from ginomai, meaning “to become,” “to come into being,” or “to come to pass.” The emphasis is not merely on a mission completed, but on a promise fully realized. Everything purchased by the blood of Yeshua has now reached its fullness. The New Jerusalem has descended. Death has been abolished. The curse has been removed. God dwells openly among His people. What was secured at the cross is now visible throughout creation.

This distinction reveals a powerful Kingdom truth: we live between Tetelestai and Gegonan. We stand between what has already been accomplished and what is still unfolding. The cross secured our future, but the fullness of that future is still advancing toward its appointed day. This is why the message of the Kingdom carries both confidence and hope — confidence because Yeshua has already finished the work, and hope because everything He purchased is moving toward its ultimate fulfillment.

The enemy wants believers trapped in the tension. He wants us staring at what still looks broken, what still feels unfinished, what still seems delayed. But Heaven points us back to Calvary and reminds us that the outcome has already been determined. We are not striving to obtain victory; we are learning to live from a victory already won. Every salvation, every healing, every act of restoration, every transformed life, every answered prayer is a witness that the power of Tetelestai is still moving history toward Gegonan.

Friend, do not let the unfinished places around you convince you that the finished work has lost its power. The cross still speaks. The blood still speaks. The King still reigns. What Yeshua accomplished at Calvary is not weakening with time; it is advancing through time. The story that began with a cry from the cross will culminate with a declaration from the throne. The Lamb has finished the work, and one day the Father will declare over all creation, “It is done.”

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)

Mark 4:30-32 And he said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it?  31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown on the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth,  32 yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and puts out large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”

Yeshua (Jesus) asked a question: "To what shall we compare the kingdom of God?" (Mark 4:30). They may have expected Him to speak of armies, thrones, and the kind of power that makes empires tremble. They were waiting for the Kingdom to arrive the way earthly kingdoms always arrive — loud, visible, and impossible to ignore. But Yeshua reached for something small. A mustard seed. So small it could be overlooked in the palm of a hand. So ordinary that most people would never stop to notice it.  And with that simple image, Yeshua revealed that the Kingdom often begins in hidden places before it becomes visible to the world.

This should correct the way we measure the work of God. The Kingdom does not always begin with something impressive. It often begins hidden, quiet, buried, easy to dismiss — a word planted in the heart, a prayer no one heard, a child raised in faith, a small act of obedience, a calling that still looks too fragile to name out loud.

But the issue is not the seed's size -- for within it contained life. Yeshua said that when the mustard seed is sown, it grows and becomes greater than all the garden plants, putting out large branches so that the birds of the air may nest in its shade (Mark 4:32). In the Greek, the word for "grows" carries the idea of rising up. The seed does not remain buried forever. What God plants may begin hidden, but it does not stay hidden. It rises because the life within it comes from Him.

This is the pattern of the Kingdom. It began in a borrowed manger, in a carpenter's home in Nazareth, among fishermen, tax collectors, and ordinary people who had no earthly power. It moved through dusty roads, village synagogues, through healed lepers, and finally through the shame of a Roman cross. To the world, it looked small. To heaven, it was unstoppable. The prophets had spoken this way long before Yeshua told the parable.

Kingdoms and empires were often pictured as great trees — Ezekiel described Assyria like a mighty cedar whose branches gave shade to the nations (Ezekiel 31:3–6), and Daniel saw Nebuchadnezzar as a great tree visible to the ends of the earth (Daniel 4:10–12). Those kingdoms wanted to look large from the beginning. But Yeshua reveals a Kingdom that does not begin as a towering cedar. It begins as a seed — not because it is weak, but because it carries a different kind of power. The kingdoms of men grow by force, fear, and control. The Kingdom of God grows by life.

Zechariah asked, "For who has despised the day of small things?" (Zechariah 4:10). That question still searches us. Many despise the early obedience because it does not yet look fruitful. Many despise the hidden preparation because no one is applauding. Many despise the quiet beginning because they have mistaken visibility for value. But God is not confused by small beginnings. He knows what He planted.

The Hebrew prophets spoke of the coming King as the Tzemach (צֶמַח) — the Branch, the sprout that would rise from David's line. Jeremiah declared that God would raise to David a Branch of righteousness (Jeremiah 23:5). Zechariah spoke of God's Servant, the Branch (Zechariah 3:8), and again of the Man whose name is the Branch, who would build the temple of the Lord (Zechariah 6:12). Even Isaiah saw life coming from what looked like a stump — a Rod from the stem of Jesse, a Branch growing out of his roots (Isaiah 11:1). That is Yeshua. A shoot from Jesse's stump. A hidden life rising from covenant roots. What looked small to men was the beginning of the restoration of all things.

So do not despise what God has planted in you, even if it still looks small. The mustard seed does not grow merely for itself — it becomes large enough for the birds of the air to nest in its branches. Your obedience may become shade for someone weary. Your faithfulness may become a shelter for someone broken. Your small beginning may become a place where others encounter the love, mercy, and intimacy of the King. This is how the Kingdom works. It starts small. It grows quietly. It rises steadily. And one day, what everyone overlooked becomes a place of life.

Friend, do not despise the day of small things, because the Kingdom of God has always carried life inside what others overlook. The seed may be hidden, but it is not empty. The beginning may be quiet, but it is not powerless. Yeshua knows what He has planted in you, and He is faithful to give it growth in its appointed time. So guard the seed. Water it with obedience. Refuse to measure it by applause, size, or visibility. The same King who rose from the stump of Jesse, who conquered death from the shame of a cross, and who turned a handful of disciples into witnesses to the nations, is still causing hidden things to rise. What He has planted in you will not remain buried forever. It will grow, it will bear witness, and in His time, what once seemed small will become a living testimony of His Kingdom.

Friend, you were created to see the face of the King!

Revelation 21:1-5  Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.  2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.  4  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."  5  Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

Even the thousand-year reign of Yeshua (Jesus), as glorious as it will be, is not the final destination of God’s plan. Scripture speaks of the King reigning, the nations being ruled in righteousness, creation being restored, and the promises of the prophets coming into visible order. But after the thousand years, the story does not end. It opens into something greater. John sees “a new heaven and a new earth” [Revelation 21:1]. He sees the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God [Revelation 21:2]. Then he hears the announcement toward which the whole story of Scripture has been moving: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them” [Revelation 21:3]. That is the destination — not merely a repaired world, not merely nations brought into order, but God with His people.

This is where Shemini Atzeret helps us see the picture more clearly. Shemini Atzeret means “the Eighth Day Assembly.” It comes immediately after the seven days of Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles. Sukkot celebrates God dwelling with His people, covering them, providing for them, and one day bringing the nations into the joy of His reign. But after the seven days are finished, God commands an eighth day -- a holy gathering, a sacred pause [Leviticus 23:36; Numbers 29:35]. Seven speaks of completion within the created order. Seven days make up the week. Seven marks the rhythm of time. But eight points beyond the completed cycle. It speaks of a new beginning -- something beyond what the normal rhythm of time can hold.

Sukkot points beautifully toward the millennial Kingdom: the earth restored, the nations coming up to worship the King, righteousness and peace filling the world. But Shemini Atzeret points beyond even that. It whispers what Revelation 21 declares openly: after restoration, there is something greater. Not another cycle. Not merely another season. A new beginning that never ends. John says the New Jerusalem has no need of the sun or the moon,  “for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light” [Revelation 21:23]. Then he says, “There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light” [Revelation 22:5]. The sun and moon that marked days, seasons, and years are no longer central. What once governed the rhythm of creation gives way to the glory of God Himself.

This is the eighth day made eternal. The Kingdom within time was always pointing toward perfect fellowship beyond time. That does not make the millennial reign small. It makes it magnificent as part of a greater unfolding. The prophets spoke of restoration, and their words will not fail. Israel restored. Nations instructed. Creation renewed. Justice established. The knowledge of the Lord covering the earth as the waters cover the sea [Isaiah 11:9]. These are real Kingdom promises. But even these promises are not the final word.

Just as Shemini Atzeret is connected to Sukkot but stands beyond the seven days, the eternal state is connected to the Kingdom story but surpasses everything the thousand-year reign contains. The booth gives way to the city. The celebration gives way to communion. The appointed time gives way to the One the appointment was always pointing toward. This is the holy movement of Scripture from beginning to end: redemption, restoration, communion. Yeshua redeems what sin enslaved. He restores what rebellion fractured. Then He brings His people into the fullness for which they were made — life before His face. No curse. No night. No temple, because “the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple” [Revelation 21:22]. No distance. His servants shall serve Him, and “they shall see His face” [Revelation 22:3–4].

They shall see His face. That is the sentence that should stop us. The Kingdom is not merely about God putting the world back in order. It is about His people standing before Him without shame, without distance, without fear, and without interruption. Eden restored, yes -- but more than Eden. In Eden, Adam heard the sound of God walking in the garden. In New Jerusalem, the redeemed see His face and reign forever [Revelation 22:4–5]. The eighth day is not just a day after the seventh. It is the sign of a new beginning beyond every ending. It points to intimacy that no cycle can interrupt, no season can close, and no darkness can touch.

Friend, so lift your eyes beyond every cycle that has governed your life — every season that began and ended, every promise you have only tasted in part. You were made for more than restored circumstances. You were made for the face of the King.  So set your hope on the age to come, not as an escape from this world, but as the very fire that makes you faithful within it. As C.S. Lewis wrote, “If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next.” Let that eternal hope steady your hands, deepen your desires, and strengthen your obedience today, until your life carries the fragrance of the world that is coming — where the Lamb is the light, the curse is gone, and the redeemed see His face.

Friend, understand what the feasts were always revealing!

Colossians 2:16-17 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

You cannot fully understand the message of the Kingdom apart from the calendar of the King. God did not scatter His promises randomly across history. He embedded them in appointed times — fixed, recurring, prophetic markers that He Himself established and that He Himself intends to fulfill. The Hebrew word is moedim (מוֹעֲדִים), and it does not merely mean "holidays" or "festivals." It means "appointed times" — divine appointments set by God before creation, given to Israel, and fulfilled in Yeshua (Jesus). They are not faded remains of Israel's calendar. They are markers in God’s prophetic calendar of the Kingdom, and each one reveals something about where He is taking creation through Yeshua.

Passover told you a Lamb was coming. Unleavened Bread told you that sin would be purged. Firstfruits told you that death would be swallowed in resurrection. Shavuot (Pentecost) told you the Spirit would be poured out and the commandments written on the heart. These are not metaphors. They were fulfilled — to the day, to the detail, to the hour. But the fall feasts remain. Yom Teruah (Trumpets), Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), Sukkot (Tabernacles) — and then, hidden in plain sight at the far edge of the calendar, an appointed time that most believers have never studied, never preached, and rarely even named.

Shemini Atzeret — the Eighth Day of Assembly. [Lev 23:36; Numbers 29:35; Nehemiah 8:18; 2 Chronicles 7:8-10]

After the seven days of Sukkot — seven days of dwelling in booths, remembering the wilderness journey, celebrating a bountiful harvest, when the feast appears complete, the Lord calls for another day. Not a repetition. Not an afterthought. A holy pause. The word shemini (שְׁמִינִי) means "eighth." But the word atzeret (עֲצֶרֶת) is where the weight falls. It comes from the Hebrew root atzar (עָצַר), meaning "to stop," "to hold back," "to restrain," or "to tarry." This is not just another gathering on the calendar. It is God placing His hand upon time itself and saying: Do not rush away from My presence.

Here the feast reveals something that should stop every student of the Kingdom in his tracks. During Sukkot, seventy bulls were offered, pointing to the nations — Israel standing before the Lord as a priestly people, interceding for the world. But on the eighth day, there was one bull. One offering. The scope narrows from the nations to the beloved, from public celebration to intimate communion. After Sukkot reaches its fullness, the King’s heart is revealed not merely in the feast itself, but in the invitation to remain. The feast that held the nations opens into the eighth day and becomes a doorway into intimacy.

This is the appointed time most believers have never fully understood. It sits at the very end of God's prophetic calendar — not by accident, but by design. Because the Kingdom message was always moving toward this: not just restoration, not just reign, not just the healing of the nations — but the moment all of history has been pressing toward — when God dwells in unbroken fellowship with His people. That is the heart of the Kingdom message. Presence. Nearness. The Father and His people, together, with nothing standing between.

Friend, God never meant for you to understand His purposes through fragments, guesses, and borrowed assumptions. He gave appointed times — holy signposts woven with prophetic meaning — to show where redemption has been and where it is going. The Lamb has been slain. Sin has been purged. Resurrection has broken the ground. The Spirit has been poured out. Yet at the far edge of the calendar, after the fullness of the feast, there remains a holy pause — the Eighth Day — whispering that God’s story does not end in activity, structure, or even restoration alone. It ends in intimacy. The King who gave the feast is the King who calls His beloved to remain, to linger, to know Him beyond the symbols and beyond the schedule. So begin today — not by striving to understand everything, not by rushing to perform another sacred duty, but by simply drawing near to Him, for this is the heart of the message of the Kingdom.

Friend, pray for Israel's revival -- her return changes everything!

Romans 11:12–15 Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!  13 For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, 14 if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and save some of them. 15 For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

Paul does not treat Israel's restoration as a side issue. He ties it directly to a blessing for the world. "Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!" [Romans 11:12]. That phrase — how much more — carries tremendous prophetic expectation. Paul is reasoning from mercy already seen to mercy still coming. If Israel's stumbling opened a door of riches to the nations, what will Israel's fullness release?

Israel's stumbling opened a door that changed everything — the gospel went out to the nations. People who had no part in God's covenants, who were on the outside looking in, were suddenly brought near through the blood of Yeshua [Ephesians 2:12–13]. Wild branches were grafted into the olive tree. The nations began to worship Israel's God, read Israel's Scriptures, and call on Israel's King.

But Paul says that is not the end of the story.

He answers with one of the most stunning phrases in the New Testament: "For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?" [Romans 11:15]. Resurrection language. Revival language. Kingdom language. Paul does not see Israel's future acceptance as a threat to the nations. He sees it as a blessing beyond anything the nations can fathom — a release of life, revival, and resurrection power.

This is where we must rightly understand the blessing of Abraham. Many speak of blessing Israel, and we should bless what God has promised to restore. But the deepest blessing is more than sentiment, politics, or admiration from a distance. It is to pray, labor, and intercede for Israel to behold Yeshua (Jesus) — the Son of David, the promised Messiah in whom the covenant reaches its fullness. If the nations have already been blessed through Israel’s stumbling, how much greater will the blessing be when Israel comes into her fullness?

That question should awaken something in the church. The blessing that is coming is not small or distant — it is tied to everything God has been doing since Abraham. The wild branches were grafted in by mercy, but the natural branches are not forgotten — "God is able to graft them in again" [Romans 11:23]. Not into a foreign tree. Not into a new religion, cut off from their fathers. Back into their own olive tree through faith in Yeshua. And when that happens, it will not be a quiet, theological footnote. True revival bends history toward the purposes of the King. It stirs the church to pray for what God has promised. It causes believers to hunger not only for personal renewal, but for the restoration of all things spoken by the prophets [Acts 3:21].

The nations do not lose when Israel is restored to Yeshua -- they receive greater riches than they have ever known. The Kingdom is not threatened by Israel's restoration. It is completed through it. The greater blessing is still coming, and it will touch every nation, every tongue, and every generation that has been waiting for the King to finish what He started.

Friend, pray for Israel's salvation with joy and real expectation, because when Israel comes into her fullness, it releases blessing into the whole world -- including the very revival your own heart longs to see. The God who opened the door for the nations through Yeshua has not forgotten the people through whom the promises first came. So bless Israel by praying for her eyes to be opened to her King. As Israel turns to Yeshua, God's blessing reaches further, His faithfulness becomes undeniable, and resurrection life begins to move where death once seemed final. Expect revival to touch your family, your ministry, and your own life -- because the one who blesses what God has promised to restore will not go unblessed.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George (Maryland) & Baht Rivka (Arad, Israel)

Romans 11:11-15 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. 12 Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!

Paul asks a question that carries more weight than many believers realize: "Have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not!" [Romans 11:11]. Israel stumbled, but Israel was not discarded. A partial hardening came, but not a final rejection. Paul refuses to let Gentile believers turn Israel's stumbling into a basis for Gentile superiority.

Then he reveals something stunning: "Through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles" [Romans 11:11]. This echoes the Song of Moses, where God says, "I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation" [Deuteronomy 32:21]. Gentile salvation is not the end of the story. It is part of God's redemptive strategy within the story. The nations were brought near by mercy, not to forget Israel or replace Israel, but to become living witnesses of Yeshua (Jesus) in a way that awakens Israel to her own King.

"Jealousy" sounds small in English, as though Paul were speaking of petty envy. But in the covenant story, jealousy is the piercing recognition that something precious, something promised, something deeply connected to your own story, is being received by another. Paul is saying the mercy of God displayed among the nations should cause Israel to look again at Yeshua and recognize the life, blessing, and nearness promised by her own prophets.

This is the calling most believers forget. Gentiles were not merely saved from sin; they were brought into a priestly witness before Israel and the world. Paul says Gentiles were once "aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise" [Ephesians 2:12], but through the blood of Yeshua, those who were far off have been brought near [Ephesians 2:13]. Near to God. Near to the covenants. Near to the promises. Near to the olive tree. And that nearness carries responsibility -- because nearness must never become arrogance. Paul warns the grafted-in branches: "Do not boast against the branches… You do not support the root, but the root supports you" [Romans 11:18].

Israel will not be stirred to her Messiah by believers who boast over her. She will be stirred by a people filled with the Spirit -- humble, holy, grateful, rooted in the Scriptures, and radiant with the life of Israel's King. To provoke Israel to holy longing is not to perform Jewishness as a costume. It is to live so deeply in Yeshua that the fragrance of the King becomes unmistakable -- the joy of forgiveness, the fire of the Spirit, the beauty of holiness, the tenderness of mercy -- until Israel sees Gentiles walking in the blessings promised through her own Messiah and begins to long for Him.

Paul's vision is not small. He says Israel's stumbling brought riches to the world, then asks, "How much more their fullness!" [Romans 11:12]. The Greek word is pleroma — fullness, completion, the filling up of what is lacking. If mercy came to the nations through Israel's stumbling, what kind of restoration will come when Israel recognizes her King? Gentile salvation is not triumph over Israel's failure. It is a signpost pointing toward the fullness of the Kingdom.

So the question is not only, “Am I saved?” It is also, "Does my life in Yeshua make Him beautiful to the people through whom He came? Does my faith carry gratitude for the root? Does my love bless Israel without flattery and pray for her salvation without presumption? Does my witness carry the humility of one who was brought near only by mercy?"

The Gentile calling is higher than many have imagined. It was never about replacing Israel. It was always about revealing Yeshua -- His life, His sacrifice, His mercy, and His love -- so clearly, so humbly, and so unmistakably that our witness becomes a Spirit-filled invitation for Israel to behold her King.

Friend
, you were brought near not by birthright or merit, but by the covenant faithfulness of the God who grafted you into His ancient olive tree. Let that mercy shape how you pray, how you worship, and how you carry yourself before Israel and the nations. You are not called to boast over the branches. You are called to burn so brightly with the life of Yeshua that your joy, humility, holiness, and compassion awaken a holy ache in every heart that beholds it. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Bless the root that holds you. Let your life testify that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is still keeping covenant, still gathering His people, and still calling the whole earth home through the mercy of His Son.

Friend, the kingdom promise still stands over Israel!

Acts 1:6-7  Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7 And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.

After forty days of Kingdom instruction, the apostles ask Yeshua (Jesus) a question: "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" [Acts 1:6].  Too often, that question has been treated as dull, nationalistic, and missing the point. But Luke has just told us that Yeshua spent forty days teaching them about the Kingdom. Their question did not rise from ignorance alone. It rose from the prophetic soil Yeshua had been cultivating.

They knew the prophets. They knew the promises. They knew that the God of Israel had spoken of restoration, David’s throne, Zion, the nations coming to the light, and the knowledge of the Lord covering the earth as the waters cover the sea [Isaiah 11:9]. They knew Ezekiel had spoken of Israel gathered, cleansed, given a new heart, and restored under one Shepherd [Ezekiel 36:24–28; Ezekiel 37:24]. They knew Daniel had seen the God of heaven setting up a Kingdom that would never be destroyed [Daniel 2:44].

So after forty days with the resurrected Yeshua, they were not wrong to ask about restoration.

Yeshua does not rebuke the premise. He does not say, “There is no restoration.” He does not say, “Israel no longer matters.” He does not tell them that the prophets were speaking only in symbols, with no future covenant fulfillment. He says, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority” [Acts 1:7].

He corrects their reach for the calendar, not their hope for Israel's restoration.

That distinction matters. Yeshua does not shrink the promise. He guards it from speculation. He does not cancel Israel’s restoration. He places the timing in the Father’s authority. The Greek word translated “times” is chronos, denoting duration, sequence, and historical time. “Seasons” is kairous, appointed moments, decisive times, divinely ordered seasons. Yeshua is saying that the Father governs not only history, but the precise moments when His promises would become prophetic reality.

This should humble prophetic curiosity without killing prophetic hope. The apostles were not given dates, but they were given assurance. The Kingdom would not be reduced to an inward feeling. Israel’s restoration would not be erased. The prophets would not be discarded. But the timing belongs to the Father, and that is where faith must learn to stand — not in denial, not in speculation, but in trust.

And here is where the promise grows even larger. If God had a plan to bring the nations back to His covenants — if He could take Gentiles who were once strangers to the covenants of promise and bring them near through the blood of Yeshua [Ephesians 2:12–13] — does it not make sense that He also has a plan to restore the Jewish people back to their own covenant promises through their own King? If mercy reached the nations through Israel’s Messiah, then Israel’s own restoration to Yeshua is not an afterthought. It is part of the Kingdom plan. The same God who gathered wild branches into the olive tree has not forgotten the natural branches [Romans 11:17–24].

While Israel’s return to the land is a sign of God’s hand in history, but it is not the fullness of what the prophets saw. The prophetic completion of Israel’s restoration to the Kingdom comes when Israel recognizes Yeshua as her King and Messiah. The Kingdom restored to Israel is more than political sovereignty, military strength, or national survival; it is the covenant people turning to the Son of David, the One pierced and yet reigning, through whom Jacob’s promises and the hope of Israel come back into focus.

Friend, pray for the salvation of Israel with humility and holy expectation, because this is not on the margin of God’s plan; it is woven into the center of His Kingdom purpose. The God who brought the nations near to Israel’s covenants has not forgotten the Jewish people to whom those covenants were first entrusted. So stand as a witness of Yeshua, intercede for Israel’s eyes to be opened to her King, and bless what God has promised to restore. For the one who blesses what God blesses will not remain untouched by that blessing. Pray for Israel’s salvation, and watch how the mercy you release in intercession returns with life, renewal, and salvational blessing upon your own life.

Friend, the risen King is still forming Kingdom witnesses!

Acts 1:3  to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

Forty days mattered. Luke could have simply told us that Yeshua (Jesus) appeared to His apostles after the resurrection. But he gives us the number. Yeshua was seen by them for forty days, “speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God” [Acts 1:3]. This was not an incidental season. This was a transition. This was commissioning from the mouth of the resurrected King.

In Scripture, forty often marks a people being formed for what comes next. Moses was on Sinai for forty days as Israel received covenant instruction [Exodus 24:18]. Israel spent forty years in the wilderness, during which a redeemed people had to learn to live as a covenant nation [Deuteronomy 8:2]. Elijah went forty days in the strength of heaven’s provision until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God [1 Kings 19:8]. Yeshua Himself was tested forty days in the wilderness before His public ministry began [Luke 4:1–2].

And now, after the resurrection, there are forty days.

Not forty days of defeat. Not forty days of confusion. Not forty days of silence. Forty days of Kingdom instruction.

The risen Yeshua did not spend those days teaching His apostles how to preserve memories. He was not preparing them to become curators of a beautiful past. He was forming witnesses for the reign of God. He had conquered death, but He did not speak as though the story was finished. The resurrection was not the end of the Kingdom message. It was proof that the Kingdom had entered history with power.

That alone should correct something in us. Many believers have been taught, even if quietly, that the resurrection mainly proves we can go to heaven when we die. That is gloriously true, but it does not fully grasp the message of the Kingdom. The resurrection is not an escape hatch from creation. It is the firstfruits of a new creation. It is the declaration that death has been invaded, the curse has been broken, and the rightful King has begun the restoration of all things.

Yeshua did not rise from the dead to preach a rootless, bodiless, history-less spirituality. He rose and spoke of the reign of God breaking into history. The Greek phrase Luke uses — basileia tou Theou — carries far more weight than the English word "Kingdom" suggests. Basileia does not simply name a place; it describes the active reign, rule, dominion, and sovereign authority of God in motion. Yeshua was not training His disciples to manage religious meetings. He was preparing them to bear witness that heaven's King had entered the earth, defeated sin and death, and would soon return to fulfill every prophecy spoken by the prophets.

The forty days were a holy bridge between resurrection and outpouring. Before the Spirit came at Shavuot, the apostles were saturated with Kingdom instruction. Before they were clothed with power, they were grounded in the message. Before they carried the gospel to the nations, they had to understand the richness of the message Yeshua was proclaiming about the Kingdom of God.

You are standing in that same pattern today. Every season of formation in Scripture -- Sinai, the wilderness, Horeb, the temptation -- was God preparing a people to carry His reign into the earth. And the forty days after the resurrection were no different. Yeshua was not preserving a memory. He was commissioning Kingdom witnesses — and that commission has never been revoked. The same basileia He spoke of to His apostles is the reign you have been called to carry. Not a distant hope. Not a theological abstraction. The active, sovereign, death-defeating rule of God in motion -- alive in you because the King Himself is alive.

Friend, you are not just forgiven. You are not just surviving. You are a firstfruits witness of the new creation that has already broken into history. The curse is broken. The grave is empty. And the risen King who spent forty days grounding His people in the message of the Kingdom is still grounding you -- still forming you, still commissioning you, still sending you. So walk boldly, dear one. The resurrection was not the end of the story. It was the beginning of yours. And the King you serve is still on the throne, and He is not done with you yet.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

Friend, your witness still matters!

Acts 1:3  to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

Acts 28:31  preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.

Luke opens the book of Acts with a detail that should awaken us: after His resurrection, Yeshua (Jesus) appeared to His apostles for forty days, “speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God” [Acts 1:3]. Not merely comforting them. Not merely proving He was alive. Not merely explaining their personal salvation. The risen Yeshua, bearing the scars of victory in His hands and feet, chose to speak to them about the Kingdom of God.

That means the Kingdom was not a teaching He left behind before the cross. It was not a Galilean theme for parables, healings, and synagogue preaching, only to be replaced by something smaller after the resurrection. The cross did not cancel the Kingdom message. The resurrection intensified it. The King had conquered death, and now He was preparing witnesses to carry the announcement of His reign from Jerusalem to the nations.

This is why Acts opens the way it does. Yeshua spends forty days teaching the Kingdom, and by the end of the book, Paul is in Rome, still “preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Yeshua the Messiah with all confidence” [Acts 28:31]. From the first chapter to the last, Acts carries one burning thread — the Kingdom of God. It begins with the risen King speaking of the Kingdom, and it ends with His apostle proclaiming that same Kingdom in the heart of Rome. The message did not fade. It advanced.

That structure matters. Luke is not giving us a scattered record of early ministry activity. He is showing us the movement of the Kingdom through Spirit-filled witnesses. Jerusalem. Judea. Samaria. The nations. Rome. The testimony of Yeshua advances through opposition, prison, persecution, councils, riots, shipwrecks, and imperial power. Yet the final word of Acts is not Caesar. It is not chains. It is not Rome. It is the Kingdom.

Paul sits under guard in the capital of the empire, proclaiming another King and another reign. Rome had armies, roads, laws, governors, prisons, and the machinery of human dominion. Paul had chains, Scripture, and the witness of Yeshua. Yet Luke says he preached “with all confidence, no one forbidding him” [Acts 28:31]. The book ends with the Kingdom still being proclaimed.

And the ending is open. Acts does not close with a neat conclusion because the witness is not finished. The same Kingdom Yeshua preached after the resurrection is still being proclaimed through those filled with the Spirit. The same King who taught for forty days still reigns. The same promise that began in Jerusalem continues to move toward the nations. The message did not fade. It is still moving.

Friend, you are carrying the same Kingdom message Yeshua gave His apostles after He conquered death — the message that began in Jerusalem, reached Rome, and is still moving through surrendered lives today. So lift your eyes with confidence, because the testimony of Yeshua is still advancing, your witness still matters, your obedience still carries weight, and the Kingdom of God is still being proclaimed through those who follow the risen King.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George (Maryland) & Baht Rivka (Arad, Israel)

Friend, you were grafted in by mercy!

Romans 11:18-20  do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.  19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in." 20  Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear.

Paul’s warning is blunt: “Do not boast against the branches” [Romans 11:18]. He is not warning pagans outside the faith. He is warning believers. He knows how quickly grace can be twisted into superiority. People brought in by mercy can begin to speak as though they arrived by merit. A branch grafted into another life can look at broken branches and forget the knife that made room for it.

Paul does not deny that some branches were broken off because of unbelief. He says it plainly. He does not teach that Jewish people are saved apart from faith in Yeshua (Jesus). He never loosens the centrality of Yeshua, not for Jew or Gentile. But Paul also refuses to let Gentile believers turn Israel’s stumbling into Gentile arrogance. The failure of some branches does not make the root unholy. Israel’s unbelief, in part, does not cancel the covenant faithfulness of God. Paul will later say it with apostolic force: “The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable” [Romans 11:29].

This is where replacement thinking withers under the weight of the text. Paul says it plainly: 'You do not support the root, but the root supports you' [Romans 11:18]. That one sentence dismantles centuries of pride. The church does not stand above Israel as judge. The nations enter Israel's hope through Yeshua -- not as a replacement tree, but as grafted branches.

Paul’s warning reaches beyond obvious arrogance. Sometimes the drift is subtle. It can appear when theology becomes detached from the covenant story, when the Tanakh (Old Testament) is treated as secondary instead of foundational, when Israel is viewed only through the past tense, when the feasts are overlooked as prophetic signposts, or when the prophets are read only for isolated phrases rather than the burden of God’s covenant faithfulness they carried.

It is possible to preach Yeshua while quietly stripping Him from the covenant world that reveals Him. But Yeshua is not a disembodied Savior. He is King of the Jews and Savior of the nations. He is David’s Son and David’s Lord. He is the Branch from Jesse’s roots and the light to the Gentiles.

Isaiah saw the wideness of this mercy when he wrote, “The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising” — [Isaiah 60:3]. But the nations come to the light; they do not claim they invented it. They are drawn to what God has revealed. They are summoned to worship, not to boast. Zechariah saw the same prophetic convergence when he declared, “Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem” — [Zechariah 8:22]. The nations are included, but they are humbled by inclusion.

There is a holy weight to this. If we receive Paul's words honestly, they call us into a deeper humility -- one that refuses to treat Israel as discarded, refuses to make Gentile history the center of redemption, and refuses to read Scripture as though covenant continuity is something to explain away. This does not mean romanticizing Israel. The prophets never did that, and Paul never did that. Scripture speaks truthfully about Israel's calling, failures, and future hope. But above all, it reveals God's faithfulness -- and that faithfulness is the issue beneath the whole tree.

If God breaks His sworn covenant promises to Israel, then no believer has solid ground beneath his feet. Our confidence rests on the character of the One who keeps covenant. The same God who promised Abraham is the God who raised Yeshua from the dead. The same God who preserved Israel through judgment and exile is the God who preserves you through weakness and failure. The same mercy that grafted you in is the mercy that forbids you to boast.

The root still remains. The covenant beneath the tree still speaks. Yeshua has opened the way for the nations to come in, not as thieves climbing over the wall, not as conquerors cutting down the tree, but as branches grafted by grace into a life we did not begin and could never sustain apart from Him.

Friend, you stand because mercy has held you, and that mercy does not make you superior — it makes you reverent. You were grafted into the olive tree to carry His life, bear covenant fruit, and witness that the God of Israel can bring wild branches into cultivated life without abandoning the root. So let humility replace pride, and let your life proclaim that Yeshua is gathering Jew and Gentile under His reign -- fulfilling sworn promises and revealing a Kingdom rooted in mercy, nourished by covenant, and destined to fill the earth.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

Friend, you are living proof of covenant mercy!

Romans 11:17-19 And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree,  18 do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in."

Paul does not flatter the Gentile believer. He tells the truth. “You, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them” [Romans 11:17]. That is mercy, but it is not flattery. A wild olive branch does not enter the cultivated tree as a source of life. It enters as a receiver. It did not grow the root. It did not carry the covenant history. It did not preserve the Scriptures. It did not birth the prophets. It did not bring forth Yeshua (Jesus). It was cut from one life and joined to another.

That image would have landed with force in Rome. They understood cultivation. They understood grafting. Grafting is not casual inclusion. A branch is cut so it can be joined. Wounding comes before union. Something old is severed so something new can live. This is what happened to the Gentiles.  Yeshua brought Gentiles near to covenants they did not establish, promises they did not earn, Scriptures they did not write, and a King who came through a covenant line they did not produce.

Paul says the grafted branch became a “partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree” [Romans 11:17]. The word “partaker” carries the sense of shared participation. Gentiles not standing beside the tree, admiring it. They are receiving life from it. The “fatness” speaks of richness, oil, nourishment, the sustaining flow that rises from root to branch. The wild branch lives because another life now carries it.

This is why Paul’s language in Ephesians is so important. He tells Gentile believers that they were once “aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise” -- [Ephesians 2:12]. That is not insult. That is diagnosis. Gentiles were outside the covenant commonwealth. They had no claim on Abraham’s promise, no inheritance in David’s throne, no share in Israel’s prophetic hope by natural birth. But then Paul says, “But now in Yeshua the Messiah you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Messiah” -- [Ephesians 2:13]. The blood of Yeshua did not bring the Gentiles into a rootless spirituality or a covenantless faith; His blood brought those who were far off -- near.

Near to God, yes. But also near to the covenants of promise. Near to the commonwealth from which we were once alienated.  Near to the hope of Israel. Near to the olive tree. This nearness is not replacement. It is reconciliation. It is not theft. It is grace.

The prophets saw this mercy before the nations understood it. Isaiah heard the Lord speak of the Servant and say, “I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, that You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth” — [Isaiah 49:6].  Zechariah declared, “Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and they shall become My people.” [Zechariah 2:11] Amos saw the fallen tabernacle of David raised again so that the nations called by God’s name would be brought in. [Amos 9:11–12]  The nations were never invited to erase Israel. They were invited to worship God through Israel’s King.

There is a correction here that cuts deeper than many want to admit. Many Gentile believers have been taught, directly or indirectly, to think of salvation as though it dropped into history detached from Israel. Many imagined the gospel as a new religious beginning rather than the flowering of an ancient covenant promise. But Yeshua did not graft us into rootless faith. He joined us to a living tree.

That means gratitude cannot remain a polite footnote in our theology. It must become part of the way we read, worship, remember, and bear fruit. We give thanks for Abraham’s obedience, for the Scriptures entrusted to Israel, for the prophets who carried the burden of revelation through persecution and tears, for the Jewish apostles who first proclaimed Yeshua, for Jerusalem, for the feasts, for the promises, and for the covenant line through which Yeshua came into the world. We do not worship the root. We worship the God who made the root holy. But we dare not treat lightly what He chose to carry His redemptive purpose.

We were grafted by mercy. That means your life in Yeshua is both a gift and a summons. Gift, because you did not earn your place. Summons, because mercy now demands fruit. The branch does not receive sap merely to admire its own inclusion. It receives life so it may bear witness. A grafted branch that forgets mercy becomes brittle. A grafted branch that remembers mercy becomes fruitful.

Friend, you were brought near by the blood of Yeshua, welcomed by mercy into covenant life you did not originate and could never sustain by your own strength; so let gratitude rise with joy, let reverence deepen your faith, and let your fruit testify that you have been joined to the promises of God through the pierced hands of Yeshua. He has not called you to a rootless spirituality, but to stand as a living branch in a holy tree — receiving life, and bearing witness to the world because of His mercy.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George (Maryland) & Baht Rivka (Arad, Israel)

Friend, discover the root of the Kingdom!

Romans 11:16-18  For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, also the branches. 17  And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and became a sharer of the root and the fatness of the olive tree with them, 18  do not boast against the branches. But if you boast, it is not you that bears the root, but the root bears you.

"If the root is holy, so are the branches" [Romans 11:16]. Paul does not begin Romans 11 with a sentimental picture. He begins with a deep covenant understanding. He is not handing Gentile believers in Rome a lovely metaphor to make them feel included. He is taking them beneath the visible branches and showing them the soil where God's promises have been alive for generations. Before Rome had a congregation, before the gospel crossed the sea, before Gentile believers gathered in homes to break bread and confess Yeshua (Jesus) is Lord, the root was already holy.

The olive tree was not decorative language Paul borrowed loosely from the Scriptures. It already carried the weight of Israel's covenant memory -- blessing, endurance, oil, light, priesthood, and consecration. Jeremiah heard the Lord say of Israel, "The LORD called your name, A green olive tree, lovely and of good fruit" — [Jeremiah 11:16]. Hosea looked beyond judgment into Israel's restoration and said, "His branches shall spread; his beauty shall be like an olive tree" — [Hosea 14:6]. An olive tree can live for centuries. It can survive hard ground. It can be cut back and still send life upward from what remains.

When Paul speaks of the "root," he is not speaking vaguely about spiritual heritage. The Greek word is rhiza, the hidden source that nourishes what is visible. Branches are seen. Fruit is inspected. Leaves can impress from a distance. But the root carries the life in secret. Paul is reaching beneath the surface into the covenant promises given through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God had already declared to Abraham, "In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed" [Genesis 22:18]. That promise was not a repair plan. It was the plan from the beginning.

This is where many believers have quietly misread the story. They assume God has finished with Israel -- that the covenant shifted and the promises expired. But God did not abandon the people through whom He chose to reveal Himself to the nations. The covenant was carried through Abraham, confirmed through Isaac, wrestled into Jacob, and from Jacob came Israel -- the vessel through whom Yeshua would come. God's promises to Israel have not been revoked, and the Gentiles who have been grafted in were never hidden outside that promise. They were hidden inside it.

The Tanakh (Old Testament) is not the preface to a Christian book. It is the covenant foundation upon which the New Testament stands. Yeshua did not appear out of nowhere. He came as the Son of David, the Son of Abraham -- born into Israel's story, announced by Israel's prophets, and revealed as the promised King of Israel. Isaiah saw this when he declared, "There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots" [Isaiah 11:1]. Yeshua is not detached from the root. He is the holy life of the root revealed in fullness, the promised Branch rising from the covenant soil God had been tending from the beginning.

There is something deeply humbling here: you are not the beginning of the story, your denomination is not the beginning of the story, and even your personal salvation -- precious, costly, and eternal -- is not the beginning of the story. You were brought by mercy into something older than your conversion, deeper than your understanding, stronger than your failures, and holier than the pride that tries to separate blessing from its source.

Friend, you were not saved into a rootless faith -- you were grafted into covenant life reaching back to Abraham's tent, Isaac's altar, Jacob's wrestling, David's throne, and the obedience of Yeshua. So receive the promises with reverence, because the root is holy, the promises are alive, and the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has not forgotten what He swore. The Kingdom is not only coming -- it is already breaking forth through you, because the root still remains.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Arad, Israel)

Friend, heaven is calling you unto unity!

John 17:20-23  “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,  21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,  23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.

Ephesians 4:13  until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,

There is a prayer of Yeshua (Jesus) that is still moving toward fulfillment. On the night before the cross, He lifted His eyes to heaven and prayed, “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me” [John 17:21]. This was not a passing wish or poetic sentiment. It was prophetic. Yeshua declared that the world would believe not because of what His people could do, but because of what His people had become -- one. The final testimony of the Kingdom would not simply be power on display -- it would be a people made one under the reign of the King.

The word Yeshua uses for “one” is hen in Greek, echoing the Hebrew echad -- the same word used in the Shema: “The Lord our God, the Lord is one” [Deuteronomy 6:4]. This is not superficial agreement or organizational alignment. It is covenantal oneness. Yeshua was not praying for uniformity; He was praying for a unity so deep that it would mirror the relationship between the Father and the Son. A unity forged through the cross, sustained by the Spirit, and rooted in shared identity in Messiah.

This unity Yeshua prayed for is not a call to abandon truth, blur doctrine, or compromise the foundations of the faith. Biblical unity is never built on the removal of conviction -- it is built on shared submission to the King. The early Moravians understood this during the revival that birthed over one hundred years of continuous prayer and global missions. Their guiding conviction was simple yet profound: “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love.” They did not agree on every secondary issue, but they chose covenant love over division and the presence of God over personal preference. That is the kind of unity Heaven blesses -- not uniformity manufactured by man, but a Spirit-forged oneness rooted in truth, sustained by humility, and overflowing in love.

It is this kind of unity Paul points toward when he writes that the Body is being equipped "till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Messiah"  [Ephesians 4:13]  The Greek word translated “perfect” is teleios -- mature, complete, brought to its intended end. Paul is not describing isolated spiritual achievement; he is describing a corporate maturity.

This is why the one new man is central to the Kingdom message. The kainos anthropos -- the new humanity formed in Messiah [Ephesians 2:15] -- was never meant to be a temporary arrangement. It is the destination toward which redemption has always been moving. Jew and Gentile reconciled together, distinct yet unified, becoming one dwelling place for God in the Spirit [Ephesians 2:19–22]. The restoration of all things is moving toward this mature and unified Body revealing the fullness of the King.

The prophets saw glimpses of this reality. Isaiah saw the nations streaming together to the mountain of the Lord [Isaiah 2:2–3]. Zechariah saw many peoples joining themselves to the Lord in covenant [Zechariah 2:11]. And Yeshua prayed for the day when the world would look upon a reconciled people and recognize the testimony of heaven in the earth [John 17:21].

The world has seen powerful ministries, signs, and revivals. But it has not yet fully seen what Yeshua prayed for -- a people who should be divided, and yet are one. A people so reconciled, so filled with the Spirit, and so grounded in covenant love that their very existence becomes evidence that the Father sent the Son.

The final move of God to usher in the harvest of the world will not be marked only by what God does in power. It will be marked by what God does in unity. And perhaps that is the greater miracle.

Friend, the world is waiting -- not merely for another display of spiritual power, but for the revealing of a people who have become one under the reign of Yeshua. You were born for this hour. The cross tore down the dividing wall for this [Ephesians 2:14]. The Spirit was poured out for this [Acts 2:1–4]. The prayer of John 17 is moving toward fulfillment, and you are part of the answer. Refuse to live fragmented when God is building fullness. Refuse division where Yeshua has declared reconciliation. Step fully into what Heaven is forming across every tribe, background, and history -- a mature Body joined together in covenant love under one King. Because the Kingdom is not only coming in power -- it is being revealed through a unified people filled with the fullness of God.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Arad, Israel)
