Worthy Brief - 6/15/2026

Friend, the kingdom and the firstborn inheritance!

1 Corinthians 15:47-49 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49  Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

Romans 8:29  For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Hebrews 12:23  and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

There is a word woven throughout Scripture that carries far more Kingdom significance than most believers realize: bekhor -- firstborn. When God declared to Pharaoh, "Israel is My son, My firstborn" [Exodus 4:22], He was doing far more than expressing affection. He was establishing covenant identity with royal implications. In the ancient world, the firstborn held the place of honor, received the double inheritance, and carried the responsibility of representing the father’s house. Firstborn status was not merely about birth order -- it was about inheritance, authority, and purpose.

Yeshua (Jesus) is the perfect fulfillment of that pattern. Paul calls Him “the firstborn among many brethren” [Romans 8:29], revealing that He is not simply the unique Son but the first of a new humanity. Through His resurrection, the Man from heaven becomes the head of a redeemed family, restoring what was lost in Adam and opening the Father’s inheritance to all who are joined to Him.

The writer of Hebrews takes this truth even further, describing believers as “the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven” [Hebrews 12:23]. The Greek word is prototokon -- firstborns, plural. This is astonishing. The Firstborn Son has not kept His inheritance to Himself but has brought an entire family into His own standing before the Father. Those who are in Yeshua do not receive second-class status or partial rights; they are welcomed into the privileges and responsibilities of the Firstborn.

This reflects the Hebrew understanding of pi shnayim -- the "double portion" reserved for the firstborn. More than receiving extra possessions, the firstborn became the steward of the family’s future, carrying the father’s authority and representing his household. In Yeshua, that inheritance reaches its fullest expression. The Father’s Kingdom is shared with those who belong to His Son, making them heirs together with Him and participants in His reign.

The same pattern appears in the priesthood. Before the tribe of Levi was set apart, the firstborn sons were consecrated to serve before the Lord [Numbers 3:12–13]. That original calling is restored in Yeshua. Peter declares that believers are “a royal priesthood” [1 Peter 2:9], and Revelation proclaims that He “has made us a kingdom and priests to His God and Father” [Revelation 1:6]. This is not merely a spiritual metaphor -- it is Kingdom identity. The firstborn inheritance includes both authority and priestly access, allowing us to represent God to the world and bring the world before God.

Friend, you are not a spiritual orphan reaching for a Father’s attention. You are one of the Firstborn -- enrolled in heaven, vested with an eternal inheritance, and set apart as a priest in the King’s own household. The double portion is yours in Yeshua, and the priestly mantle already rests upon your shoulders. You were not born again merely to survive this age, but to represent the King, intercede for the world, and carry the authority and presence of His Kingdom wherever you go. So lift your head and live from the certainty of who you are: an heir of the Father, a co-heir with the Son, and one of His Firstborn, called to reveal His Kingdom until the day He reigns over all.

Your family in the Lord with much agape love,

George & Baht Rivka (Maryland)
