Worthy Brief - 4/9/2026

Friend, the z'roah -- the arm that redeems!

Exodus 6:6  Therefore say to the sons of Israel, I am Jehovah, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rescue you out of their bondage. And I will redeem you with a stretched-out arm, and with great judgments.

There is a striking symbol placed on every Passover Seder plate—the z’roah, the shankbone. It sits quietly, often explained simply as a remembrance of the Passover sacrifice, yet within it lies a far deeper revelation. The word z’roah (זְרוֹעַ) means “arm”, and it is the very word God uses in Exodus when He declares, “I will redeem you with an outstretched arm.” This was not just a promise of deliverance -- it was a revelation of how God Himself would act in power, strength, and salvation.

Throughout Scripture, this z’roah—the arm of the Lord—becomes a central picture of God’s intervention. In Isaiah, we are told that with His arm He gathers the lambs (Isaiah 40:11), carrying them close to His heart. With His arm, He rules (Isaiah 40:10), bringing authority and justice. And most astonishing of all, it says that His arm brings salvation to Himself -- as if God alone accomplishes what no man could do. (Isaiah 59:16)

Then comes the piercing question: “To whom has the arm (z’roah) of the Lord been revealed?” (Isaiah 53:1).

What follows is not a picture of outward power -- but of suffering laid out in Isaiah 53.

The arm of the Lord is revealed not in strength as the world expects, but in a Servant who is despised and rejected. One who carries our griefs and bears our sorrows. One who is pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities. One who is led like a lamb to the slaughter -- silent, broken, and yet fully surrendered. And through His suffering, many are made righteous.

This is the mystery: the same arm that parted the sea, the same arm that shattered Egypt, the same arm that rules and reigns -- is revealed in the suffering Messiah. What appeared as weakness was in fact power, what looked like defeat was victory, and what seemed like loss was redemption. Year after year, the z’roah is placed on the Seder plate as a silent witness to this truth, yet its fullness is often left unrecognized. The symbol remains, but the revelation is hidden in plain sight.

This is where it becomes personal. The arm of the Lord has been revealed -- not only in history or in symbol, but in the One who bore your sin, carried your pain, and made a way where there was none. The question from Isaiah still echoes today: to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? Will you see it? Will you recognize that the power of God is not distant, but has already been extended toward you?

Friend, this is the hour to behold the arm of the Lord -- not as a distant idea, but as a present reality. The arm that redeems is reaching for you, the arm that gathers is drawing you near, and the arm that rules is establishing His purpose in your life. The arm that brought salvation has already made a way. Do not miss what has been set before you. The z’roah has been placed on the table, the testimony has been given, and the revelation has been declared. Now is the moment to see it, receive it, and walk in it -- because the arm of the Lord has been revealed, and His salvation, His Y’shua, has come.
